According to statistics, the most common electronic equipment hazards are not caused by direct lightning strikes, but are caused by current surges induced in power and communication lines when lightning strikes occur.

There have been endless cases of equipment damage caused by lightning strikes recently, mainly due to the introduction of lightning current into the power cord and signal line of the equipment, which leads to equipment damage. So how to prevent lightning damage to equipment?

The first is the protection of the power cord, the first-level surge protector (M100B+C/3+N) is installed at the power inlet, and then the hierarchical protection is installed. The terminal of the equipment is installed with the final protection --- lightning protection socket, from the main entrance The line to the end of the electrical equipment is usually equipped with three levels of protection. After stepwise voltage limiting and discharge, the lightning energy is gradually eliminated to ensure the safety of the electrical equipment. The power surge protector is generally connected in parallel in the circuit, which is simple and convenient to install, has good lightning protection performance, no special maintenance, and regular inspections.

The second is the protection of signal lines. Generally, signal lightning protection devices are installed, which are divided into feeder signals, network signals (D05J4), audio signals, control signals, and so on. After the "signal lightning arrester" is connected to the signal line, on the one hand, it must be able to cut off the passage of lightning into the equipment, and at the same time it must be able to quickly discharge to the ground. , So that the device can work normally.

Third, classification protection recommendations:

First-level protection --- It is recommended to add surge protectors to the ground at both ends of the inner core of the cable between the back end of the high-voltage transformer and the main switchboard of the building.

Second-level protection---Surge protectors should be installed at both ends of the inner core of the cable between the building's main switchboard and the floor distribution box.

Third-level protection---install surge protectors on all important and sophisticated equipment and the front end of the UPS.
